Kindle e-Ink eReaders
These instructions are for e-Ink Kindles (including Paperwhite) that do not support apps. Instructions for Kindle Fire tablets, which support the OverDrive app as well as additional digital formats, are in the section below. e-Ink Kindles are compatible with Kindle books only.
What do you need?
You will need to use a computer to send ebooks to your Kindle through Amazon. You will also need a free Amazon account.
1. Go to the OverDrive website
Click the link above, or visit libraryconnection.overdrive.com. You may want to bookmark this page for easy access.
2. Sign in
Click SIGN IN. Use the library finder to find the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library, and enter your Berlin-Peck Memorial Library card number. Checking REMEMBER MY CARD NUMBER ON THIS DEVICE will save your library card number, so you don’t have to enter it again.
3. Search and browse
Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite are compatible with Kindle books only, so you may want to filter out other formats. In your library’s digital collection, use the advanced search or search filters to find and borrow an eBook that’s available in the Kindle Book format (or, look at the “Formats” on each title’s details page).
- If you already know what you’re looking for, click SEARCH and type in a title, name, or keyword.
- If you’d like to browse titles on a certain subject, click SUBJECTS and pick a subject.
- If you’d like to browse new or popular titles, click COLLECTIONS.
Click here to watch a video on using OverDrive.
You can do this either by selecting BORROW under the cover, or by clicking or tapping the cover to go to the title’s details page (where you can see extra details and options for the title before you borrow it). You’ll need to be signed in to complete this step.
To see all of the titles you have borrowed, click the bookshelf icon, or click MY ACCOUNT then LOANS.
5. Send to eReader via Amazon
First, connect your eReader to your computer.
Once you’ve borrowed a title, click CHOOSE A FORMAT, then Kindle Book. You’ll be taken to Amazon’s website to complete your checkout.
On Amazon’s website, follow the on-screen prompts to “Get library book” and wirelessly deliver it to your Kindle eReader. You’ll need to sign into (or create) an Amazon account to complete this process.
