Eighth Annual Gingerbread Contest and Display

Drop off your homemade gingerbread house for display, and help us pick a winner!

This year, we’ve split the contest into two categories:

  • Child: individual child or groups of children under 10
  • Other: families, groups, and anyone over 10 years old

To vote for your Viewer’s Choice favorite, pick up your ballot at the adult reference desk or visit our Facebook page to vote online.



Drop off gingerbread houses:
Friday, December 15 to Monday, December 18 (please note we are closed Sunday)

Judge’s Winners announced:
Tuesday, December 19

Display and Viewer’s Choice voting:
Monday, December 18th to Friday, December 22

Viewer’s Choice winners will be notified after the holiday weekend.


Gingerbread Contest Guidelines

  1. Bring in your creation any time between Friday, December 15th and Monday, December 18th. Please note: we are closed on Sunday.
  2. All entries must have a card attached to the underside of the base that includes the name, address and phone number of the contestant. Please also specify category: “Child” (an individual child or groups of children, ages 10 and younger) or “Other”.
  3. All gingerbread projects will remain on display throughout the week of December 18th. All items may be picked up on Friday, December 22. Any items left behind will be donated or discarded.
  4. Creations must be constructed primarily of edible materials and icing. Gingerbread kits may be used.
  5. Bases for the projects must not exceed 24” by 24”. No electricity may be used.
  6. Spread the word: vote for your favorite gingerbread house. Library patrons can come in and vote for their favorite gingerbread house between Tuesday, December 19th and Thursday, December 21st. Visit the information desk for viewer’s choice ballots. This year we will also offer online voting through a link on our Facebook page. Online voting will take place from December 19th -22nd.
