Teen Programs

We’re introducing a fabulous MakerSpace for kids, families and teens this summer! We need volunteers (grades 6 and up) to help us supervise it. If you’re interested, stop by the library and fill out a volunteer form, or download one HERE to fill out at home and bring in. What will be in our MakerSpace? Crafts, robots, Snap and Squishy Circuits, a chalk wall, Magformers, Bloxels, a pop-up green screen, Makey Makeys, tabletop games and more! Questions? Call (860) 828-7127.

The Berlin FIRST Robotics team from Berlin High School and McGee Middle School, will be demonstrating this year’s entry into the FIRST Robotics Competition, Steam Works. The Team will present a short demonstration as well as allow the audience an opportunity to try driving the robot. They will also bring examples of the FIRST LEGO League robots as well, which are geared toward younger students. All ages. No registration is required.

For grades 6 and up. Drop by and learn about all of the technology, crafts, games and other fun stuff in our MakerSpace! The MakerSpace has Snap and Squishy Circuits, Ozobots, Spheros, Makey Makeys, a pop-up green screen, Magformers, Legos, a chalk wall, K’Nex, an Ellison die-cut machine, a button maker, crafts and more! Snacks provided. No registration is necessary. Sponsored by Friends of the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library.

Tuesday, July 11 from 2-3:30 PM
The library has a Minecraft server! Visit the library to fill out a form to be granted access (whitelisted). Join other super-fans to show off your build skills, trade ideas, and work as a team! There will be prize drawings of Minecraft items, and snacks will be provided. Bring your laptop, or use our Xbox One, Wii, or library laptops (first-come, first-served). Please note: only the PC and Mac version of Minecraft work with our server. Mobile, Playstation, etc., versions of the game are not compatible. For grades 2-12.
