He and Augustine F. Wooding built Tower House in 1875 [326-40 Farmington Ave., Kensington Apartments in 1986].
Almost certainly served as a water tower for New York-New Haven Railroad. Ralph and Augustine were prominent Berlin industrialists born in Hamden. They made dog collars, harness trimmings and saddle hardware. They built a dam and pond in Kensington during later years of 18th century and were granted contract to supply water to railroad trains. It is probable the tower itself was added some years after the main portion of the building was completed.
